F.A.Q.

What is LTTO, LTX and LTAR?

These are names given to various incarnations of the modern day Lazer Tag gear, produced by Hasbro.  LTTO stands for Lazer Tag Team Ops, and it came out in 2004.  This set includes three types of weapons, the Deluxe, IR-2X (or sometimes called Drone), and TMB (Tag Master Blaster). In 2008 Hasbro came out with a more simpler version of Lazer Tag called LTX (possibly stands for Lazer Tag eXtreme - no one knows for sure).  Then recently in 2012, Hasbro released the LTAR (Lazer Tag Augmented Reality).  The LTAR features the capability of inserting an iPhone into a cradle - which turns it into a gun camera.

Why do you need to modify Lazer Tag?

While playing Lazer Tag is a ton of fun in by itself, adding a microcontroller to make various special weapons, in-game targets, and/or objectives will bring the experience to a new level.  This web site will be an area where people can freely express their ideas on what they want to see in a game and how to make such an item.

I have an idea! Can I get it listed on your web site?

Great!  We welcome any and all ideas here.  Your first step is to post your idea in FORUMS under "Your Ideas & Concepts". Feel free to dream big.  The goal is to get the ideas out on the table.  Anyone is free to participate.  Once your concept is posted, we'll discuss specific operation and electrical/mechanical details. If it seems feasibility to make such an item, we'll list it on the main web site and track it's progress.

How can I get one of the items listed on your web site for my Lazer Tag games?

Only items that are deemed "feasible" or "possible" to make will be listed.  It will first be listed as a CONCEPT.  Once bread-boarding and code-writing begins, the listing will be promoted to a PROTOTYPE stage.  After this it will move into an IN-DESIGN stage, where all the parts are sourced, PCBs are created and tested.  Lastly, once the product it finished it will be listed as AVAILABLE.  Here you will find instructions for making the unit yourself and/or be able to purchase a kit.

Can I help?

Absolutely!  The more people we have helping, the quicker we can bring these objects into the real world. Each project will list various "tasks" or steps needed in order to complete it.  If you wish to be assigned to any task, simply post your intention on the appropriate forum page.  We'll be in touch with you to coordinate your involvement.

Who's behind all this?

LT-MMO is run by Robert Bontrager - a long time Lazer Tag fan.  You can find him on the message boards using the name Windjammer or Jammer.
